The Ultimate Boho Party Decor

boho-setup-decor.jpg

I had the prettiest boho bachelorette party last weekend.  What started off from being a Pinterest dream, actually becoming a reality and a beautiful setup in my parents yard.  It also inspired me with the decor for my own wedding and I will definitely be using the boho decor I bought at the wedding as well.

If I wanted to add an extra boho twist to my bachelorette attire, I found a website that makes cute custom patches and pins in a boho style. These patches and pins would look great for the wedding party as well! It’s such a nice touch to the wedding decor.

After sooo much planning and running around trying to source everything, I thought I might make it easier for everyone if I just posted where I got everything from. Living in Toronto, it really wasn’t easy finding ‘boho’ style items and accents, and if it wasn’t for ordering online from Aliexpress and Amazon, I really wouldn’t have been able to put the look together.

Teepee

This was one of the highlights of my party, and everyone was so impressed with the teepee. At first I really believed I could make it myself but then I realised I would have so many problems sewing the lace fabric to fit tightly around the teepee sticks, so I turned to Amazon. I found this teepee which was out of my budget but the easy setup and how nice it looks is definitely worth the price.

Rugs & Pillows

Rugs, depending on your luck, can be the easiest or hardest thing to find. You can find amazing deals in thrift stores, such as huge Persian rugs for $20. I was able to mix the rugs with white blankets I found in thrift stores (these blankets were usually around $8), which allowed me to fill in the gaps between the rugs and save me money.

I did buy 2 brand new rugs off Ali Express because I wanted to have at least two vivid rugs on the sides. I decided to go for a blue-red one (colour 1) and a red-yellow one (colour 3).

Every boho picnic needs some comfy pillows to sit back and relax on. I wanted different shades of dark purple, orange and red against the persian rugs. I found 10 pillows on Amazon that had a boho look to them BUT unfortunately the listing for the pillows isn’t available anymore. I did a super quick search and found these on Aliexpress. Not the same elephant ones I had but I have no idea why they’re not available on Amazon anymore.

I was able to buy 2 macrame pillows and one jute rug/straw pillow from Bali for $25. However, it is soo hard to find these things for cheap, but be sure to check out this link from Aliexpress for reasonably priced ones.

Lighting

No boho party is complete without soft yellow candles and string lights- these were some of the easiest for me to find. I bought 100 feet of these string lights (in black)  from Amazon, and while they were very delicate and I broke two right out the box, they really added to the dreamy look.

I used one strand of these fairy lights and strung them up and down the teepee to add an extra glow. At night this really was the perfect touch.

Because candles make everything look better, I went and got these fake candles for extra lighting which I just placed around the lounge setup.  I also went to a few thrift stores and picked up some vintage looking candle sticks which I then spray painted an ‘antique brass’ colour. To be honest, I didn’t actually light the real candles in the gold candle sticks on the table since I didn’t want the wax to ruin everything.

Wood Pallets

I used 6 wooden pallets as tables, and just stacked 2 together to give it some height. If you drive around factories long enough, you will be able to find these dumped on the side of the road.

Macrame

I looove looking at pretty macrame but know that there is no way I will ever be able to make it myself. So I went and found this macrame to use as a backdrop for photos and bought a bigger one to hang off the railing and cover the mess behind.

Florals

To be honest, at first I pictured my bachelorette party being filled with many, many flowers. But after seeing the cost of florals in Canada, especially boho bouquets filled with white roses and pampass grass, I decided to go an alternative route.

The local grocery store (Sobey’s) was selling 3 bunches of baby’s breath for $20. One bunch was good enough to fill 2 mason jars which we then placed on the food and drink tables. We also filled the medicine bottles with dried roses to add more pink hues.

Cutlery, Plates, Etc

Since Kaan and I are super into the environment and don’t want to destroy it, we went as eco-friendly as possible. We ordered bamboo cutlery, wheat straws, and bought gold charger plates from the dollar store. We also got these cute plastic champagne flutes that are reusable and which we will for sure be using in the years to come. We also used glass cups for the sangria.

My sisters found two beverage dispensers similar to this one at the thrift store that we used for sangria and lemon-mint water.

Misc. Decor

I found that all these little accents helped bring the boho visual together and I am so happy I got all of these. It wasn’t

At first I wanted loads of big pampass grass everywhere. But then after checking the prices of big pampass grass ($25 for a single stem has to be a joke!) I decided on getting 50cm stems which I then rearranged around the yard.

To add extra texture and make it seem more fairy-like, I went with these ostrich feathers, which I placed in clear jars that I painted gold.

I found a pack of 12 mason jars for $9 from Amazon, which we then wrapped the mouth of the jar with twine from the dollar store. I used 2 of these mason jars to put a bundle of baby’s breath in. I used 4 more jars and put these battery operated fairy lights inside and just left them around the back of the teepee.

When I was on Pinterest looking for inspo, I kept coming across brown medicine bottles being used as vases. After visiting what feels like 50 stores, I wasn’t able to find anyone selling them. Shockingly, even Amazon and Aliexpress weren’t selling them! I got lucky and found an online store called Uline selling them. Here is the link for them. I bought them in 16oz and 8oz to mix them up. I am sooo obsessed with these and will be using them for the wedding.
