What to Expect When You Stay at the World Renowned One&Only Palmilla (Hotel Review)
The prestigious One & Only brand has expanded into the Los Cabos region with a crazy mission: to be the best luxury hotel in Mexico. And after staying here, we now truly understand why they refer to themselves as the ‘one and only’. The service is unparalleled, the food is exquisite, and the property is surrounded by a lush tropical oasis on the Sea of Cortez.
This resort blends vintage Mexican opulence with a modern experience as the property was originally built in the 1950s. Walking around the resort, you can expect to see palm trees and grass everywhere, giving off a jungle vibe despite Cabo’s desert location.

OUR SUITE
The rooms at One & Only Palmilla boast a unique, colonial design. Our room overlooked the ocean, featuring a massive balcony with a comfortable lounge area and an infinity pool where we spent our mornings watching the sunrise and enjoying some of the most incredible whale-watching we have ever seen.
A PERSONALIZED EXPERIENCE
The resort has an incredibly high level of personalized service. The One & Only staff makes a point of stopping to say “Hola” every time you walk by, and ensuring you have everything you need. On the beach, members of staff would run up to us offering warm towels as soon as we got out of the water. They even took note of our social media updates where I talked about how much I love having oysters and champagne for breakfast. Next thing I know, the waitstaff is bringing over a platter of freshly shucked oysters and champagne!
PELICAN BEACH
Although the resort offers a relaxing outdoor jacuzzi and two main pools (one family-friendly and one featuring a swim-up bar), we were dying to hit the beach. The property is unique in the sense that one side of it backs onto the Sea of Cortez, while the other faces the Pacific ocean. We decided to head down to Pelican beach, which is one of the only swimmable beaches in Cabo due to the area’s dangerous rock formations. This gorgeous on-site beach offers paddleboarding, boat rides, and stunning cabanas equipped with sunbeds, knee pillows (Kaan’s favourite), and full dining services.
DINING OPTIONS
Another highlight of the One and Only Palmilla is the incredible range of dining options. Guests can enjoy top-rated restaurants such as Suviche, which is a Japanese fusion restaurant or Seared, by world-famous chef, Jean-Georges.
SPA EXPERIENCE
We couldn’t leave without checking out the One & Only’s spa services, and they did not disappoint! We tried the “immune booster” massage, which focused on lymphatic drainage. This was one of the most relaxing couples massages we’ve ever had (we both fell asleep- oops!).
One & Only Palmilla offers some of Mexico’s finest accommodations. This would make a gorgeous wedding venue, with their beautiful church right on the resort. This is also a great place to enjoy a getaway with friends, family or with your significant other.
If you are concerned about travelling during the current pandemic, One & Only makes it easy to stay safe with on-site rapid PCR testing. They really have thought of everything at One & Only Palmilla and I can’t recommend it enough!
