Enjoy the Best View in Bora Bora at the Intercontinental Thalasso (Hotel Review)

The Intercontinental Thalasso is a stunning 5-star resort located on it’s own private island in Bora Bora. It has panoramic views of Mount Otemanu, overwater villas, and a world-class spa. The resort is extremely spacious, designed in a way that will make you feel like you are on an intimate holiday.

The resort is only accessible by yacht or helicopter, giving you the utmost privacy and allowing you scenic views of the hotel and volcano from the water before your arrival.  On the deck, we were warmly greeted by the Thalassao staff with a refreshing drink, and taken by golf cart to the reception area. The check-in process was easy, and we were taken on a tour of the property before heading to our room.

OVERWATER VILLAS AT THE INTERCONTINENTAL THALASSO BORA BORA

We stayed in the Diamond Otemanu Overwater Villa, which was extremely beautiful, modern, and spacious, with to-die-for views from the living room, bathroom, and bedroom. We loved the high ceilings throughout the rooms, and how there was a distinctive space between the bedroom and living spaces. The deck had a dining area and sun loungers, allowing us to have direct access to the lagoon. We would wake up every morning and dive straight into the pristine blue waters.

If you are traveling with another couple, definitely splurge and stay in the infamous Brando Suite, the place where Beyonce and Jay-Z spent their babymoon. The Brando Suite is a 2 bedroom villa that has a private infinity pool which directly overlooks Mount Otemanu.

There are 3 restaurants on site: Sands, Le Corail, and Reef. We ate breakfast each morning at the incredible buffet in Le Corail, which had an extensive selection of food. We would always go for the poisson cru (served in a coconut), brie cheese, mango slices, and fresh passionfruit choice.

The Reef restaurant was an indoor fine dining establishment, while Sands restaurant was located right on the beach side, allowing guests to dine with their toes in the sand. Most nights there was a Polynesian cultural show, which included firedancers.

We spent our days lounging on the deck of our pool villa, hanging out on the beach in front of the beautiful lagoon, or swimming in the infinity pool. We loved the pool area, as it was built to perfectly align with Mount Otemanu and provided the best backdrop for our sunset photos!

COVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AT THE INTERCONTINENTAL THALASSO

The COVID protocols in place kept us feeling safe and comfortable during our stay. Wearing masks around the resort was mandatory, and social distancing measures were enforced. Furthermore, housekeeping would only enter rooms when guests were out. This prevented any close contact in an enclosed space.

At the breakfast buffet, you were required to sanitize your hands before entering, and were given your own tongs and spoons to serve yourselves. Additionally, QR codes were provided for a contactless digital menu experience.
