We Stayed at The Most Luxurious Hotel in Whistler Village (Fairmont Whistler Review)

Whistler is one of the most exciting destinations in British Columbia, recognized as one of the top winter sport regions in the world. This charming village is surrounded by the Blackcomb mountains, where you will find people skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing from morning to night during the winter months, or hitting the trails on mountain bikes during the summer.

Our visit to Whistler took place during the summer, and although we didn’t have time for any of the extreme sports that the area is known for, there was no shortage of things to see and do! What made our stay in Whistler truly magical was our incredible experience staying at the picturesque Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which sits right in the middle of Whistler Village. Continue reading as I walk you through everything that made our stay at the Fairmont so special.

When you book your stay at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, you have the choice of a room facing the village or the hill. Our room faced Whistler Village and we had a stunning view of the misty Blackcomb mountains from our balcony. Our room was spacious while still giving us that cozy village feel, complete with a toasty fireplace. When we were ready to explore the village, it was just a quick walk down the road, but the hotel also offers a free shuttle for those who prefer a ride into town.

The Fairmont Chateau is also a quick 5 minute drive, or 15 minute walk to Lost Lake. This is one of our favourite spots in Whistler, and the ideal place to catch a sunrise or spend a lazy summer afternoon.

With four top-rated restaurants on the resort, it was difficult for us to choose where to go for dinner, but we went for the Portobello, which is an amazing BBQ smokehouse. We tucked into a big bowl of mac and cheese, along with some barbeque ribs and smoked brisket. In the morning, we treated ourselves to a sleepy start to the day with some delicious room service treats for breakfast. For lunch, we dropped by the Mallard Lounge, which had the BEST buffalo cauliflower bites we have ever had! We polished these off with local BC beer, and enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountain from the patio.

The resort features luxurious indoor and outdoor pools which merge into each other through a glass wall. In order to be COVID-friendly, the hotel limits access and allows guests to book the pools in 2 hour intervals. We went first thing in the morning for a swim, and found there to be only 10 other people socially-distanced among the various pools.

We were dying to check out the pools at the famous Scandinave Spa, which is just a five minute drive from the Fairmont. We had the most relaxing day at this quiet, digital-free spa where you can enjoy plenty of relaxation zones or get your blood flowing by plunging into their hot and cold pools! We spent the most perfect afternoon this way.

We were definitely sad to leave the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, but thankfully, we had plenty of fun ahead of us as the resort is just a two hour drive from Vancouver, with scenic stops at the Capilano suspension bridge, three mile beach, and many other famous sites. We can’t wait to come back to this beautiful resort!
